Baumüller presents new DST3 torque motor at the SPS trade fair in Nuremberg
The new DST3 torque motor continues the success story of the DST series and offers customers optimized power density and improved dynamics with optimum running smoothness.
Baumüller is a pioneer in direct drive technology and has had electric direct drives with a very high torque in its product portfolio for over 30 years. The advantage of this drive solution is the reduced maintenance effort due to the elimination of gearboxes or hydraulic systems, the simpler assembly and logistics due to the smaller number of components as well as the high efficiency and productivity. Torque motors can also be used to achieve very rigid drive train control.
The new DST3 torque motor continues the success story of the DST series and offers customers optimized power density and improved dynamics with optimum running smoothness. This enables reduced space requirements, weight, and resource optimization as well as increased productivity and maximum precision.
50 percent more dynamism
The increased dynamics of up to 50 percent compared to the DST2 mean that cycle times can be shortened, as faster acceleration and deceleration is possible. This is advantageous for injection molding machines or presses, for example. Thanks to the increased dynamics, the clamping unit can open and close faster and in a more controlled manner.
The DST3-135 torque motor is an optimal solution for numerous machine types in various applications and is an electric alternative to gearbox solutions or hydraulic applications.
As already known from the DST2 product family, the DST3 motors are scalable and can be adapted to customer requirements. Size 135 covers a speed range of up to 2,000 rpm. As with the DST2, mechanical adaptations such as thrust bearings, hollow shaft, solid shaft, blind hole shaft, gearing, flange, or foot mounting and more will also ensure that the DST3 is perfectly matched to the respective machine application in the future. The motor also has a very robust design.
